The Mattress Cover

We use unbleached cotton fabrics, bamboo blend fabrics and organic cotton fabrics. Most cotton fabric are bleached or dyed to achieve a more pleasing appearance. But the bleaching process exposes the materials to chemicals. By using unbleached and uncolored cotton fabric, we are lessening your exposure to chemicals used in the bleaching process. Our bamboo blend fabric uses 30% bamboo, a sustainable material, and 70% polyester. While being natural and sustainable, bamboo is unfortunately not durable enough by itself, so we have to blend it with polyester to create a cover that is less dependent on the oil industry and will still be durable enough to carry the Keetsa name. Our organic cotton covers are made with certified organic cotton and are available on The Keetsa and latex line.

The Mattress Fire Barrier

Federal Regulations requires all mattresses to comply with the new standard of fire compliance,16CFR1633. For The Keetsa Latex mattress, we use all natural 100% wool padding for our fire barrier. For other mattresses with memory foam layers, we use a fire barrier that is made with cotton fabric treated with non-toxic FR agent.

Bio-Foam? 

Memory foam is renowned for its durability and comfort. Yet, most memory foam is made with 100% petroleum oil. Not very eco friendly. Keetsa has innovated Bio-foam?, a new type of memory foam that replaces 12% of the petroleum oil with castor bean oil, a natural plant oil. This accounts for less dependency on the oil industry and most importantly, this foam has no detected VOC's and no detected formaldehyde. Much more eco-friendly. 

Latex Foam 

Keetsa Latex mattresses feature a latex core that uses all natural latex rubber. Latex is naturally hypo-allergenic, anti-bacterial, mildew and mold resistant. Our latex is LGA certified, QUL certified and ECO certified.

EverGreen?

Green Tea is increasingly recognized for its calming effect and for its powerful anti-oxidant. We utilize this powerful anti-oxidant in the form of Green Tea Extract mixed into the Bio-Foam formula to help ensure that our sleep products will maintain a fresh, natural scent without the use of chemical deodorizers.

Foundations that may have been soiled, dampened, burned or otherwise abused.  Proper use of the Foundation is defined as having a flat surface for the foundation to rest on to adequately distribute weight of the mattress.  Weight limitation for the foundations is 2400 pounds when that weight is normally distributed on a mattress during normal use.  This warranty applies only to the products listed here and only when consumers, who purchased them from Keetsa as a new product, have properly used them.  Proper use means using the mattress on a firm, rigid and smooth surface that supports the entire mattress INCLUDING THE CENTER such as a bed platform, box spring, Keetsa Bed Frame foundation.  Proper use also means that the product was not abused by the consumer, as defined by the manufacturer.  Replacement of one piece or part of the product does not constitute agreement to replace other parts.  The warranty period does not get extended from the original purchase date if replacement parts are required. If your product fails due to manufacturing defects, the manufacturer will repair or replace it at its discretion and reserves the right to substitute comparable materials or models and does not guarantee that the replacement part will match the existing piece or product. Keetsa FAQ

How long do I need to wait for the mattress to recover, after it is unpacked?

When the sealed bag is opened, the mattress will rise up quickly. Upon opening, the mattress will recover 80~90% and the rest will take about 1~3 days to rise up completely. However, you can still use the mattress right away. You will also notice some wrinkles and round corners, which will go away after few days.

When I open up the mattress, I can smell a scent. What is this scent and is this normal?

Keetsa strives to make each of our products as comfortable and eco-friendly as possible. In an effort to do so, we utilize natural elements, such as cedar oil, extract of green tea, bamboo and untreated cotton. Due to the nature of these natural elements, each Keetsa product is unique and thus it is impossible to control the extent of the unique, natural scent of our products. And while each product has a unique scent, it is completely harmless and will dissipate in strength over the course of a few days from removal of its packaging. If your Keetsa product has a strong scent, it is recommended that you remove any outer bedding or covering and allow it to air out, and provide adequate ventilation where possible.

Can we put the used Keetsa mattresses back into the box?

Keetsa mattresses are not recompressable. Once it is out of the box, there is no way (currently) to put it back into the box. We are hoping to develop a new technology for this!

What kind of mattresses do you recommend for people who want soft feel?

The level of softness and firmness a person feels are all different. But we suggest The Keetsa Pillow Soft, Tea Leaf Supreme and Tea Leaf Classic, for customers who like a softer mattress.

I share my bed with a partner, who wants a firm mattress while I like a soft mattress. This has been a major problem when trying to pick out a mattress together. What do you recommend?

The Tea Leaf Select is designed specifically for these customers. It has two air compartments and remote controls to adjust the firmness of the mattress. Basically, your side of the bed can be soft by taking out the air from your side compartment, while your partner can have firm side by adding air into the compartment. Even though it has air compartments, the mattress feels just like a regular mattresses. It is easy to set up and operate.

Are there more ?Green?, sustainable products coming?

Absolutely. We are constantly challenging ourselves to come up with the most earth-friendly sleep solutions. Our Research and Development teams are actively testing new ingredients and materials that will increase our Keetsa Quotient?. Several items are already being tested, so be on the lookout.

How can you offer FREE SHIPPING on such large mattresses?

First of all, part of what makes us more eco-friendly is the fact that we use compression technology to make our mattresses fit in to UPS approved shipping boxes. So, it?s a whole lot easier to ship our mattresses to customers than traditional mattress stores. Since our products can be shipped via UPS, there is a smaller carbon footprint associated with our deliveries compared to special deliveries of traditional mattresses.

How do you make your products fire safe?

We have invented a system utilizing chemicals that are non-toxic to the body while helping to make the mattress compliant to federal regulations.

What do I do with my old mattress?

Recycle! Visit Keetsa's web site to view several recycling vendors for you to contact. If you don?t live near any of these companies, please contact your local waste collection service and ask them if they can recycle your mattress. Many local waste services are getting more and more sophisticated about deconstructing mattresses to salvage recyclable materials and minimize landfill volume. Or, you can investigate donating your mattress to a charitable organization, if they?ll take it. In any event, please, please don?t let your mattress become one of those littered along the highway.

Some mattress retailers offer a ?free? service to remove your old mattress after they deliver your new item. We did a spot check on several of these services and learned that most went directly to landfills. Today, mattresses are one of the largest consumer products that clog landfills.

This is a good question. The answer is: YES. All Keetsa mattresses meet or exceed the new Federal fire-safety regulations, 16 CFR Part 1633. This new consumer protection law went in to place mid-year 2007 to make mattresses more fire safe.

Many manufacturers of foam experience a tremendous amount of wasted foam during the manufacturing process. Our manufacturer invented the way to utilize the wasted foam, with a unique patent pending method of revitalizing, to better performing combined foam. While we do not manufacture an organic mattress at this time, we are confident that consumers will appreciate the less toxic, comfortable and more affordable Keetsa brand when comparing to most major retail brands. Our boxes are printed with water-based ink, instead of coated printing, which makes the box 100% recyclable. We encourage everyone to recycle and reuse! Our packaging process and delivery process also affords us a much smaller carbon footprint than most major mattress brands. We don't have a fleet of delivery trucks either.

You hear a lot about foam density? What does that mean?

It is easy to get confused about foam density. It is true that higher the density the better the foam will perform, up to a point. It is generally accepted that foams higher than a 1.8 density will last longer than those of less density. Keetsa utilizes from 3.0 up to 5.0 density foams in its product manufacturing.

How is Keetsa green?

Your beds are compressed into a box. Doesn't that damage them?

On the contrary, it is a real testament to the design and durability of our product. We have subjected some of our competitors mattresses to the same process and they do not endure the process. Our beds are so durable they are able to withstand the pressure and manipulation of the packaging process and spring up to provide a great night's sleep, every time.
